What is WOOL?
WOOL stands for “Weekend Out On the Lake” and is an event I started in 2007 because I knew there were a lot of great people out there who couldn’t afford to attend most conventions or extended fiber events. These things can run into several hundreds of dollars easily, and to be honest, most of us are just trying to get by.

Luckily I live just 90 minutes from a truly unique resort called Wiawaka, specifically created to provide women of limited means the opportunity to get away to a place of refuge and beauty. Wiawaka is a hidden gem in the Adirondacks, on the “quiet side” of Lake George, and is like nothing you have ever seen. Fees are based on your ability to pay, chosen by you on the honor system, and include your meals. The resort is small and rusticly elegant, and hosts only 45 guests total.

The first WOOL had only 7 guests, the next year we had 24! It is my hope that each year, through word of mouth and blogging, that one day soon we will fill up almost the entire resort, of course not displacing those venerable members who have been coming every year for the entire season. Yes, it’s so awesome that some of the older guests make a season of it. One of the great things about WOOL is that you can come for as few or as many days as you like, you won’t miss anything but the fun (or the fireworks on Thursday night)!

    Ahh! Good eye Jess!
I went ahead and registered on the Wiawaka site, and just like last year the credit card thing freaked out. So either it didn’t go through or I paid my half twice. I’ll call them in the morning to straighten it out.

I had no problem with the Wiawaka site. I got my confirmation and I’m good to go!!

I got my registration email from Wiawaka for a 50% payment. I’ll still call tomorrow to make sure I am good to go and in Lake House. I didn’t use the form tina was talking about but I did say in comments that I was with the WOOL group.

[...] I just feel like there is so much to do and no time to do it.  But alas, I know I will feel better next month.  There are only three weeks and a day until I leave to head up to New York to see Tina and go to W.O.O.L! [...]
