Manic Monday #153
How much time do you spend each day in your commute? (Or if you don’t work outside the house, how much time do you spend in your car or other preferred mode of transportation?)
15 minutes, from door to door, including the very cold walk from the parking lot. So when people talk about cutting down on their driving to conserve energy, I can honestly say that for a rural part of the country it does NOT get better than this aside from working from home.
What’s your favorite wardrobe item and why?
Easy! My Faded Glory jeans from WalMart. After years of being poorly serviced by the retail industry due to my plushiness, who would have thought that the best fitting jeans (for me) in the world would be found for $18 at WalMart? They are my Pants of Power, for I am mighty in them.
On the crafty front, I have finished my next crochet shawl and have FINALLY cast on for Tilt, a sweater I have planned for over a year. Yeah, over a year. The problem was that in the summer I had no initiative to knit a sweater and by fall and winter I had to finish holiday knitting and my husband’s sweater. Which, I am pathetically pleased to say WILL be done while there is still cold enough for him to wear it. The rescue yarn is in the mail, and may in fact be waiting for me when I get to work today. It should certainly be in before the weekend.
Tilt will be beautiful when it is done, but I am already annoyed with the yarn. I only worked with Kureyon once before and had no trouble with it. This time I’ve had 2 knots already in a 50g ball that’s less than 1/2 used. That’s just unacceptable, really now.

Tilt will be beautiful when done. I’ve heard that complaint about Noro over and over. So why do we buy it? Are luscious colors worth inferior yarn? And its it the yarn, or the company producing it figuring knots are okay? Oh well.
Steve is so worth having a sweater’s worth of handknit love wrapped around him. I hope you finish it for this winter.

Ha- Plushiness! I’ll have to remember that!
Being a spinner has drastically altered what I consider acceptable in commercial yarn. Two knots in a 50 gram ball are NOT acceptable.

Pants of Power! Love that. Tilt is going to be a beaut in that Noro. My commute is an ungodly 3 hrs round trip. Bonus knitting time.
